Cheektowaga Youth Baseball Bat Rules
Q. Which bats are legal for use during the 2019 Cheektowaga Youth Baseball Season?
A. For the 7-8, 9-10, & 11-12 divisions, only wood bats or bats that have the USA Baseball stamp on them
are permitted.& For the 13-15 Division, wood bats or bats that have the BBCOR stamp on them are
permitted. For the 16-18 division, only wood bats or Bamboo bats with the BBCOR stamp on them are permitted
(no aluminum or composite bats). There are no restrictions on bats for the T-Ball and 5-6 Divisions but if
you plan to purchase your child their own bat it is highly recommended that you buy a bat with the USA
Baseball stamp on it.
Q. Why have the bat standards changed?
A. USA Baseball has concluded that recent advancements in science, engineering, technology, and the
materials available to fabricate non-wood bats, now allow the manufacturers to construct youth bats that can
perform at a wood-like level through the entire range of lengths and weights of youth bats. For more
information Click Here.
Q. Do I have to buy a bat?
A. No, We have invested in all new USA Baseball certified bats for the 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12
divisions that comply with the rules. Every team will have three age appropriate, division legal bats in the
team equipment bag that your child is able to use. If you choose to buy a bat, please make sure that it
meets the standard appropriate for their division so that they are allowed to use it.

Tampering or altering bats may violate certain federal and state laws and voids the USA Baseball certification, as well as all manufacturer warranties. Rolling is considered tampering and would void the bat’s certification and make it illegal for play. Cheektowaga Youth Baseball reserves the right to ban any equipment, including bats, at any time, including during the season, based upon a change of existing policy and/or upon new information made available to Cheektowaga Youth Baseball.
