2026 Spring Baseball / Softball

Cheektowaga Youth Baseball & Softball - House Recreational League

The objective of Cheektowaga Youth Baseball & Softball, by means of an adult supervised competitive baseball program, is to implant in the boys and girls of the community the basic ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they will become finer, stronger and happier children who will grow up and develop into good, clean adult citizens.

Cheektowaga Youth Baseball & Softball has developed its recreational baseball and softball programs to be educational and fun first. Our programs have been designed to teach the youth of our community the fundamentals of baseball and softball in an environment free from judgement, ridicule and bullying.

REGISTRATION FEES

No Hidden Fees. No Surprises.

What does it cost to register your child?

PER PLAYER REGISTRATION FEE: $75–$125

Running a safe, educational, and recreational youth baseball and softball program becomes more expensive every year. Costs for insurance, uniforms, baseballs, softballs, bats, safety equipment, and even the specialized diamond mix used on our fields continue to rise annually.

As a nonprofit youth organization, our goal is not to make a profit—it is to provide a safe and affordable program for the boys and girls of our community. Registration fees are set based on the projected cost of operating each program. As players get older, the cost of running those programs increases, and registration fees increase accordingly.

To help reduce out-of-pocket costs for families, we rely heavily on support from local and national business sponsors. These sponsors may be recognized through team names, on our website, and on signs displayed around the fields. Their generosity allows us to keep registration fees significantly lower than they would otherwise be.

We also offer an optional Player Sponsorship Program, which allows families to recoup up to $50 per player by selling 10 lottery tickets at $5 each. Families keep all money collected and return only the ticket stubs.

NO VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT

Teams will once again be scheduled to work in the snack stand during the season. For each assigned time slot (approximately 2½ hours), we require two parents or adult (16+) family members to report 15 minutes before game time.

Each team will be scheduled for more than one snack stand shift during the season.

As a thank-you for volunteering, families will receive a $25 registration discount code to be used toward 2027 Spring Registration.

None of our board members or coaches are paid. By donating a small amount of your time, you help us keep costs manageable for everyone—and receive a credit toward the following season.

REGISTRATION SERVICE FEE: $3.00

This fee is charged by our website provider and is outside of the league’s control. The provider assesses a $3.00 per transaction fee, plus standard credit card processing fees.

The league absorbs credit card processing costs, but cannot eliminate this transaction fee. It goes directly to the website provider, not the league.

FAMILY MAXIMUM: $400

The Family Maximum applies to immediate family members residing in the same household.

To be eligible:

  • Registered during Early Bird or Regular Registration
  • Completed under the same family website account
  • Residing at the same physical address

The Family Maximum does not apply to:

  • Extended family members (e.g., cousins)
  • Late registrations

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM (OPTIONAL)

The Player Sponsorship Program is an optional opportunity for families to reduce their child’s net cost of participation. By enrolling your player in the Sponsorship Program, you can offset $50 per registered player by selling sponsorship lottery tickets. Many families choose this option as a simple way to lower their overall out-of-pocket cost for the season.

How the Sponsorship Program Works

  • Enrollment does not change the registration fee paid today
  • Participating families will receive 10 lottery tickets at $5 each
  • Tickets may be sold to friends, family, or supporters
  • You keep all money collected from ticket sales
  • Only the ticket stubs are returned to the league
  • Selling all 10 tickets effectively reduces your net cost by $50 per player

Lottery tickets will be mailed within 10–15 business days.

VOLUNTEER-RUN LEAGUE – VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

Cheektowaga Youth Baseball & Softball is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Everyone involved—including the Board of Directors—is a volunteer. Our fields are maintained by volunteers, teams are coached by volunteers, snack stands are operated by volunteers, and all game-day preparations are handled by volunteers.

We do not receive operational assistance from the Town, County, or State, and we have no paid employees. The only way we are able to continue offering affordable baseball and softball programs to the boys and girls of our community is through the time and effort of our volunteers.

We need your help.

Volunteer Credits

To recognize volunteer participation, the league offers registration credits that may be applied to a future season, based on the role fulfilled:

  • $50 credit – Head Coach or Board of Directors member
  • $25 credit – Assistant Coach, concession stand volunteer, or other approved volunteer roles

Volunteer credits:

  • Are earned after successful completion of the season
  • Are applied to a future registration
  • Are non-cash, non-transferable, and have no cash value
  • Are limited to one credit per family per season

Concession Stand Requirement

During the season, teams will be assigned volunteer days for concession stand coverage. On those days, an adult (16+) representative from each team is required to work the snack stand for the duration of the game.

If no adult representative from a team reports for their assigned concession stand duty, the team will be required to forfeit that game.

Why This Policy Exists

The Board of Directors has resisted implementing this policy for several years. However, due to an ongoing shortage of volunteers, this policy is now necessary to ensure that concession stands remain open.

Concession stand revenue directly supports essential league expenses, including umpires, game equipment, and field maintenance.

Our goal is not to see any team forfeit a game. The intent of this policy is to fairly distribute volunteer responsibilities so the league can continue operating without significantly increasing registration fees.

Teams will receive advance notice of assigned volunteer dates, and the league will work with families whenever possible to avoid forfeits.

By registering your child, you acknowledge and agree to this volunteer requirement.

Division Descriptions

3–4 T-Ball

First-time ballplayers ages 3–4 learn hitting and fielding fundamentals in a fun, supportive team environment. Young athletes hit the ball from a batting tee which is height-adjusted to promote a level swing, batting in order through the lineup for the entire game. The primary goal is to introduce players to the fundamentals of baseball while building confidence, coordination, and a love of the game.

As players gain confidence and skill during the season, they may begin to transition to coach pitch.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introductory level of Baseball. After completing a Volunteer Application, passing a required background check, and attending a free certification program, parents may become involved in practices and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, and league board members.

5–6 Coach Pitch

Ballplayers ages 5–6 continue learning hitting and fielding fundamentals in a fun, supportive team environment. Young athletes hit the ball from an underhand pitch delivered by the coach. This approach helps players develop good batting mechanics, improve hand/eye coordination, and prepare for the 7–8 Machine Pitch division.

Ballplayers are also introduced to basic rules and game concepts such as balls, strikes, and outs. The primary goal remains skill development, confidence-building, and learning the game in a positive recreational setting.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introductory level of Baseball. After completing a Volunteer Application, passing a required background check, and attending a free certification program, parents may become involved in practices and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, and league board members.
